Christian Family Life~In Other Words Tuesday~ May 1,2007

" By perseverance the snail reached the ark."
~ Charles Spurgeon~

Dear Friends,

As a Christian family faith, belief and the love of the Lord has gotten us through many difficult times. At the same time the joy of knowing the Lord has not only filled our hearts but kept us focused on the gifts he has given us.
We have realized as parents that teaching our children about goals ,responsibility , and being a good Christians is not only our responsibility but an act of love. Setting ,maintaining and achieving anything in life takes perseverance. Everyone has interests in life but the ones who succeed are the ones who go beyond interest , taking an active role in their success. They say one of the keys is being like a postage stamp and sticking with something until you get where you are going.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of education derelicts. Perseverance and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan 'press on' has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

- Calvin Coolidge, thirtieth President of the United States (1923-1929).

"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints." Ephesians 6:18

As they say the road is narrow and few will pass through. It is important to not only have our career, and life goals, but our spiritual goals mapped out as well. To realize there will be delays, and detours at times but we must have faith, belief, prayer , goals and the perseverance to see them through. There will be some that will never be happy nor in the Lord , having said that it is obvious then they won't want us to be. Even though we must pray for them, give them grace we have to move beyond them , persevere and make our own happiness goals and life in the Lord. The Lord is with us every step of the journey and we must never give up the race to be with him.

May you be blessed this week and always. Thank you for stopping by.

If it's not worth working at/for it's probably not worth having.

I loved your quote on it being our act of love to teach our children. They can see our fruits and we have to be their example. As always, a great take on the quote. Have a blesed day.

They say one of the keys is being like a postage stamp and sticking with something until you get where you are going.

This is a great analogy. Thank you so much for sharing today.

And, I can understand about those around us who lack the persevering gene for God's plan. ;)

It is through those delays and detours that God is teaching me the most and asking me to hang in there with Him and it is so worth it to do so! Thanks for sharing.
I loved the music while I was reading.

I love the quote you chose from Calvin Coolidge. I want my girls to use their talents...this is exactly why I homeschool. I want them to feel encouraged and motivate to persevere.

That is so true--we should never give up the race, because of His strength we will persevere to reach to finish line. And what a glorious day it will be.

Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this week's IOW quote.

Blessings to you and yours.
